HOW TO: Remove a SharePoint Site from Windows Explorer

DANGER: Use extreme caution when deleting items from Windows Explorer. If you delete a resource in Windows Explorer that has a Cloud Icon it will be deleted from both your local computer and the Sharepoint cloud location. It is a soft delete and can be recovered within 90 days, but after that period it will be gone forever!

To remove a Sharepoint site for Windows Explorer, follow these outlined steps:

1. Locate the Microsoft OneDrive application in your System Tray. 
2. Left-click on the OneDrive icon. A Menu will slide up. Click on Help and Settings:
   
3. This will reveal another Menu. Click on Settings:
   
4. Locate and click on the Account tab.
5. This will list locations for syncing. Carefully select the SharePoint folder you would like to remove, and click Stop Sync:
   
6. Another window will pop up to confirm. If you are certain, click the Stop sync button:
   
7. In Windows Explorer, the Sharepoint folder will still be present, but it won't have the Local (), Cloud (),  nor Sync () icons in the Status column
8. As long as those Icons are not present, you may safely delete the local resources without also deleting the cloud resources.
9. If the Status icons are still present (DO NOT DELETE), go back to Step 5 (above) and try again.
